The 8 ha grand cru produces Chardonnay at its summit, which cannot be found elsewhere in the world. Le Montrachet is slow to mature but carries enormous potential with power, concentration and intensity. It is in a different league above the rest of the Grand Crus nearby, which are already good.

The communes of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet share 50-50 of Le Montrachet. Bouchard Père et Fils, Marquis de Laguiche and Ramonet have their vines in the Puligny side, while Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Leflaive, Comtes Lafon and Marc Colin have theirs in the Chassagne half. Negociants like Louis Jadot and Louis Latour also buy grapes and produce serious wines.

One would seldom find a disappointing Le Montrachet. It is a great wine that deserves more than 10 years of patience for them to fully mature.
