La Romanee

With size of only 0.85 ha, La Romanée is the smallest appellation contrôlée in France and is directly upslope from Romanée Conti. This is a monopole owned by Comte Liger-Belair.

Before 2002 the vineyard is being taken care by Régis Forey and the wines are élevaged and bottled by Bouchard Père et Fils. Since 2002 Comte Liger-Belair took back the responsibility on the vines and wine making and 2005 was the last vintage that Bouchard Père et Fils was involved.

The average production of La Romanée is 300 cases per year, making these bottles one of the rarest Burgundy bottles. Since Louis-Michel Liger-Belair has taken charge, La Romanée becomes more aristocratic and equally perfumed to its famous neighbours.
