Ruchottes-Chambertin is small, steep, and highest amongst all the Gevrey-Chambertin grand crus. The 3.3 ha grand cru lies above Mazis-Chambertin and it is rocky and infertile.
Ruchottes-Chambertin needs time, a lot of time, to show its full potential. It is a wine with great depth and very balanced acidity. It is possibly less structure than the 2 best grand crus but it is pure and intense. Armand Rousseau is again the benchmark winemakers here.
