Puligny-Montrachet lies directly south to Meursault. Besides the contribution of the famous great white Grand Crus, Puligny-Montrachet also produces some very high quality white wines. There is good structure with richness and ripeness, together with a wide spectrum of flavours. The wines can be steely with hint of minerality, and there is nice acidity that ensures the wines can age well.

The Premier Cru Le Cailleret and Les Pucelles, which are neighbours of the Le Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet, are generally the most exciting and beautiful white wines from Puligny-Montrachet. Premier Cru Les Combettes on the northern side is an elegant combination of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, combining the steely and buttery, nutty palate.

Chassagne-Montrachet is famous for its white wines, but the commune also produces red wines and was planted with more Pinot Noirs than Chardonnays in the past. The white wines here is on the similar spectrum of Puligny-Montrachet, being steeling, racy with good acidity and not with the fullness of Meursault.
