Chapelle Chambertin

The grand crus of Gevrey-Chambertin lie on both the eastern (downslope) and western (upslope) of Route des Grands Crus. The 5.49ha Chapelle-Chambertin is immediately beneath Clos de Bèze on the eastern side of the road.

Wines from the grand cru below the Route des Grands Crus are usually more feminine but Chapelle-Chambertin is possibly the fullest and richest of them. Yet most critics agree that it does not have the same concentration nor complexity when compared to the Chambertin and Clos de Bèze. Tasting the Chambertin and Chapelle-Chambertin from Jean-Louis Trapet will give you a good comparison.
